2 Way Active Chilled Beam, 24″ Wide

The WAAB-600 Active Chilled Beam is an air/water induction terminal unit that simultaneously provides thermal treatment and diffusion of supply air. Chilled beams take advantage of the excellent thermal properties of water to guarantee optimal comfort levels with minimal power consumption. The WAAB-600 model is 24 inches (600 mm) wide and suitable for closed ceilings and false ceilings. WAAB-600 supplies air in a 2 Way diffusion pattern.

Product Description

The WAAB-600 Active Chilled Beam is an air/water induction terminal unit that simultaneously provides thermal treatment and diffusion of supply air. Chilled beams take advantage of the excellent thermal properties of water to guarantee optimal comfort levels with minimal power consumption. The WAAB-600 model is 24 inches (600 mm) wide, making it suitable for both closed ceilings and false ceilings. WAAB-600 supplies air in a 2 Way diffusion pattern.

High thermal capacity is achieved thanks to its induction principle. Once conditioned in a treatment unit, primary air is expelled through induction nozzles. This creates a pressure drop which forces the air in the premises to pass through the water battery, where the required air-water heat exchange takes place. Induced air is then mixed with primary air prior to being diffused in the room, continuing the cycle. This induction process allows an active chilled beam to provide much more cooling capacity than a passive chilled beam.

The main heat-transferring component in the WAAB-600 chilled beam is a battery, formed by copper tubing and aluminum blades. WAAB active chilled beams also incorporates air duct and water pipe connections, a plenum for mixing fresh air with induced air, which has been previously treated in a central air conditioning unit. The WAAB-600 chilled beam can be supplied with connections on the side or on the top for both supply and return. The unit can be adapted to medium panel modular ceilings. It can be installed in low-hanging false ceilings thanks to its compact size.

Active chilled beams systems can help reducing energy consumption and meet the energy efficiency requirements of the Federal Energy Policy Act (EPAct 2005), Energy Independence and Security Act 2007 (EISA 2007), GSA FY 2010-2015 Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan, and Executive Order 13693.
