High Induction Adjustable Aluminum Square Swirl Diffuser For Higher CFM

AXO-SX Radial Vanes Adjustable Square Swirl Diffuser for Higher cfm
01 / 04 Products

01 / 04

Recommended between 300 cfm and 550 cfm. For less cfm, see AXO-ALU-S300, AXO-ALU-S400 and AXO-ALU-S.

Available with black or white diffusion vanes, 24″ x 24″ (605 mm x 605 mm).

AXO-ALU-SX is the AXO Series model with the most vanes and able to handle the most cfm.

AXO high induction swirl diffusers greatly help improve comfort and energy efficiency in commercial buildings when compared to standard diffusers. AXO series can supply high volume of air at relatively low sound power and has a high tolerance to air flow variation and the angle of the duct when entering the diffuser. They offer a very reliable performance and are ideal for VAV applications.

AXO-ALU diffusers are ideal for environments that are prone to corrosion and can be adjusted to supply the air in a swirl pattern (default), directional patterns and vertical downward patterns.

Description

AXO-ALU aluminum high induction swirl diffusers by EffectiV are designed to be used in air conditioning, ventilation and 1 1/10 heating systems, in environments that are more susceptible to metal rust. The design of their vanes and radial arrangement supplies the air in a swirl pattern while leveraging the coanda effect. The resulting high induction ratio helps reduce stratification.

Their individually adjustable vanes support multiple angles to adapt the airflow to virtually any environment. Their sectored vanes, combined with a PERFAIR high-performance plenum mixing box, emit a uniform airflow all over the passage section.

The AXO series diffusers admit a flow variation of 60% while keeping the air stream stable. For optimal conditions, AXO diffusers may be used in ceilings 8.5 up to 13 feet (2.6 up to 4 meters) high and at a temperature differential up to 54ºF (12ºC).

The air pattern adjustability, high level of induction rate and reduced air stratification allow for designs with a much higher level of comfort and provides opportunities for significant energy savings.

The face and plenum box are ordered separately and attached together with a screw through the face fixed in the plenum crossbar.

AXO-ALU-SX square diffuser for higher cfm is available in 24″ x 24″ (605mm x 605mm) only.

B. Provide manufacturer-supplied plenums for all AXO diffusers. Plenums shall be supplied by EffectiV and sized/configured for the scheduled diffuser model(s) and duct connection(s).

C. Provide volume dampers only where scheduled. Provide accessories (including air equalizer, acoustical liner, and thermal insulation) only where scheduled.

1.2 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Manufacturer’s data for diffuser face and plenum, including published performance data for scheduled sizes and airflows: airflow range, pressure loss, throw, NC, and induction ratio.

B. Shop Drawings: Show scheduled model, face size, neck size, plenum model and connection type, damper type and location (when provided), air equalizer type (when provided), induction vane color (black or white), and installation details. Indicate acoustical insulation and thermal insulation where specified or required for the application.

C. Airflow Prediction Report (Required): Provide manufacturer-generated room airflow prediction report for each diffuser type and unique room condition using manufacturer performance data and recognized correction methods (ΔT correction factors, Coanda effects, buoyancy effects, jet interaction, and wall/floor/ceiling collision effects). Report shall include:

  1. 3D room layout with diffuser placement.
  2. Predicted airflow visualization views: plan (top), section (side), elevation (front).
  3. Throw distances for terminal velocities of 150, 100, 60, 50, 40, 30, and 20 fpm.
  4. Pressure loss at scheduled airflow.
  5. NC at scheduled airflow.
  6. Perceived NC: sound pressure at room center (5 ft height) from all sources combined across 63–8000 Hz octave bands; include resulting NC and key assumptions used.

D. Verified CFD Validation (When Indicated): Provide EffectiV Verified CFD validation and summary report for spaces indicated on drawings and/or when diffuser operation is outside manufacturer published selection limits (airflow, ΔT, mounting height, geometry).

1.3 SUBSTITUTIONS

A. Substitutions per Division 01.
